Following the HRTechConference in Chicago this week I saw these posts:
@adowling RT @TrishMcFarlane: Forget about your employer as your source of prof. development. It is up to you. Via @InFullBloomsUS #hrtechconf
@joanginsberg RT @thelance: #hrtechconf @infullbloomus is 64, learned social technology, didn't know anything about two years ago. Stop making excuses.
It seems @InFullBloomUS, a speaker at the conference, brings up a point that I wonder how it resonates with the various generations in the workforce today. The Millennials and Gen Ys (who are approaching WF age) really rely on their networks for a lot of information plus they are very entrepreneurial. So this might be something they agree with. It might mean that professional organizations or groups akin to them will become more important for career development - something Kevin Wheeler mentioned during the Future of Talent workshop I attended a few months ago.
What do you think?
